چکیده

Business process models are intensively used in organizations with various persons being involved in their creation. One of the challenges is the usage of a consistent terminology to label the activities of such process models. To support this task, previous research has proposed quality metrics to support the usage of consistent terms, mainly based on linguistic relations such as synonymy or homonymy. In this paper, we propose a new approach that utilizes hypernym hierarchies. We use these hierarchies to define a measure of abstractness which helps users to align the level of detail within one process model. Specifically, we define two types of defects, namely process hierarchy defects and object hierarchy defects. We evaluate our approach on three process model collections from practice.

Using Terminological Knowledge Representation Languages to Manage Linguistic Resources

I examine how terminological languages can be used to manage linguistic data during NL research and development. In particular, I consider the lexical semantics task of characterizing semantic verb classes and show how the language can be extended to flag inconsistencies in verb class definitions, identify the need for new verb classes, and identify appropriate linguistic hypotheses for a new v...

Multi-dimensional abstractness in cross-domain mappings

Metaphor is a cognitive process that shapes abstract target concepts by mapping them to concrete source concepts. Thus, many computational approaches to metaphor make reference, directly or indirectly, to the abstractness of words and concepts. The property of abstractness, however, remains theoretically and empirically unexplored. This paper implements a multi-dimensional definition of abstrac...

Age-Related Stereotypes and the Linguistic Intergroup Bias 1 Running head: AGE-RELATED STEREOTYPES AND THE LINGUISTIC INTERGROUP BIAS An Examination of Age-Related Stereotypes and the Linguistic Intergroup Bias Using Two Measures

The linguistic intergroup bias is a phenomenon where people use more abstract language to talk positively about in-groups and negatively about out-groups (Maass, Salvi, Arcuri, & Semin, 1989). This has been established for many in-groups, but has not been extended to age-related stereotypes. This study extended the linguistic intergroup bias to attitudes towards older adults. It was predicted t...
